St Catherine’s College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Welfare Advisor to be the first point of support and guidance to undergraduate and graduate students during office hours. The post holder will share line management of the Junior Deans and also support Senior members of College, particularly the Dean and Assistant Dean in the handling of acute situations and provide ongoing support for students who are in difficulty or in need of advice.

This is a pivotal role within the College’s welfare team, working closely with the College Officers on casework, as well as Junior Deans, and wider University services to ensure students receive timely and appropriate care.

In addition, the post holder will co-ordinate Peer Supporters, contribute to wellbeing initiatives, maintain confidential records, serve as a Harassment Advisor and promote a positive culture of mental health, resilience, and wellbeing across the College.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience supporting individuals with emotional or psychological challenges, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities calmly. They will also have and awareness of student wellbeing issues, sensitivity to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and a proactive, flexible approach, with willingness to respond to urgent situations.

Working hours are 35 hours per week during term time (3 x 11 weeks), and one day per week (7 hours) during vacation time (approx. 70% of full-time hours). Some flexibility is possible during vacation time. Due to the nature of the role, the post holder must be based in College (not remote) during their working time.

The annual salary is up to £39,906 pro-rata.
