Western Governors University (WGU) is looking for an individual to participate as a Subject Matter Expert for our Advanced Pharmacology design project. This position is 100% remote.
Subject Matter Experts provide valuable real-world knowledge and experience to the development of the courses we offer our students. This is a part-time/project-based position, where you would work with WGU as an Independent Contractor.
Subject Matter Experts MUST meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of MSN; doctorate in nursing preferred.
- Current APRN FNP certification.
- Current APRN FNP licensure.
- Minimum of three (3) years employed in curriculum or teaching role in an FNP MSN program.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as an FNP.
- Teaching and/or course content development experience in program-specific areas.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in assessment development and/or course development for online courses, and/or competency-based education in an FNP program.
- Market Research: Proven ability to analyze industry trends and competitive positioning in nursing education.
- Licensure Knowledge: In-depth understanding of state and national licensure requirements for FNP programs at the master’s level.
- Program Development: Experience in developing and implementing educational programs aligned with regulatory standards and market needs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong collaboration skills to work with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program offerings.
- Registered Nurse.
- Certifications and Specialized Areas: Can be any type of NP (FNP, WHNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP, PACNP, PPCNP, PMHNP)
Project Information
Dates:11/24 to 3/13 (Subject to slight change)
Application Deadline: 11/17
Location: Remote
Time commitment: Approximately 180 hours.
Compensation: $9,000.00
Other compensation and benefits: This position is for an independent contractor and is not eligible for other compensation or benefits.
Scope of work:Instructional Design Support - Participate in 1–2 meetings each week during WGU collaboration hours (9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. MT). Collaborate with the Instructional Designer to help define course scope, learning objectives, and content sequence aligned to competencies and associated skills. Review learning resources and learning checks for alignment with course objectives and outcomes. Provide feedback on draft content and ensure accuracy and clarity of instructional materials. Fact-check content for subject-matter accuracy during development. Complete assigned independent tasks outside of collaboration hours by provided due dates.
Assessment Design Support - Help validate performance assessment task models, section tests, and course planning tools (CPLTs) developed by the design team. Review and confirm alignment of assessment components with learning objectives and competencies. Fact-check assessment content to ensure subject-matter accuracy and appropriate alignment. If applicable, review objective assessment blueprints and assist in validating difficulty and importance ratings for course learning objectives.
Meetings/Workshops:Two 90 min. meetings per week.
