Subject Matter Experts and Mentors in Physics

Thomas Edison State University’s School of Science and Technology invites applicants for subject matter experts (SMEs) and mentors (online instructors) in the area of Physics. Mentors and SMEs are expected to possess up-to-date knowledge and expertise in one or more of these disciplines, along with teaching / mentoring experience, at the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants should be committed to program quality, academic integrity, student success, and diversity. Industry professionals with previous teaching experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Mentors and SMEs work with Thomas Edison State University as independent contractors. These positions are 100% remote.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate degree in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related STEM fields from a regionally accredited institution
  • Two years’ teaching experience and/or demonstrated evidence of the ability to mentor online courses with excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of industry experience within the listed disciplines
  • Industry recognized certifications in the areas of Physics and related
  • Experience developing online courses
  • Experience using Web-based educational tools (Moodle preferred)

These positions will participate in a wide array of projects including course facilitation, program assessment, review, and development, and course revision for our undergraduate and graduate programs.
