Supply Chain and Logistics Assistant Manager
The Office of the Chief Operations Officer is seeking a highly organized and proactive Logistics Assistant Manager with proven experience managing daily delivery dispatch, inventory control, vendor coordination, and logistics support across all campus dining locations. This role oversees the timely and accurate distribution of goods and supplies to residence halls, and campus dining facilities (residential, retail and event venues) and serves as a key point of contact for resolving vendor-related issues, managing dining hall supply needs, and ensuring smooth logistical operations in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. The successful candidate will be skilled in supervising employees, planning truck routes, inventory systems, and cross-departmental communication. In coordination with the Purchasing Manager, this role supports operational efficiency, cost control, and delivering reliable support services to students, faculty, and staff.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management or business management preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong Verbal and writing communication Skills.
- Prior experience in a higher education setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of food management systems.
- Experience with lean manufacture principles and warehousing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite. Valid New York State Drivers License.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise warehouse staff and day-to-day operations to ensure productivity goals are met.
- Oversee workforce coordination, task delegation, and vehicle loading processes to support timely and accurate retail and dining deliveries.
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. Monitor workflows, enforce safety standards, and optimize operational efficiency across all warehouse activities.
- Lead process improvement initiatives grounded in performance data and key metrics.
- Use financial reports, KPIs, and trend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, resolve operational bottlenecks, and drive strategic improvements.
- Coordinate labor planning and order fulfillment activities, including dispatch scheduling and delivery oversight.
- Conduct field evaluations of delivery drivers to assess performance, identify development needs, and ensure quality standards are met.
- Oversee inventory management in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager, ensuring accurate stock levels, system integrity, and reduced shrinkage.
- Recommend and implement inventory-related process enhancements.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekend, and some holiday.
