The Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) is looking for an experienced System Developer to enhance and integrate our mission-critical applications, supporting campus safety and operational efficiency. Reporting to our DPSS Technology Services Associate Director, you will collaborate with our leadership, division partners, teams, and external vendors to deliver secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions that strengthen our campus safety capabilities.
You bring technical expertise and a collaborative mindset to help plan and execute integration projects and understand the importance of security, reliability, and using technology solutions that align with our goals and industry best practices.
- Lead and implement enterprise integration projects: Oversee planning, design, and deployment of secure integration solutions across DPSS systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration and operational issues: Provide technical expertise during incidents and ensure reliable system performance.
- Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and processes: Create clear guidelines and support materials for integration projects.
- Ensure system security, audit logging, and data governance: Implement security controls, monitoring, and supporting data hygiene.
- Evaluate and recommend integration tools and best practices: Research technologies and maintain relationships with vendors to optimize solutions.
- Mentor and support team members: Guide colleagues in integration practices and contribute to team development.
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field, or 4 years equivalent work experience.
- 4 years of direct experience in enterprise-level application integration.
- Experience overseeing the linking of cross-functional applications between disparate business units and systems.
- Experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping and methodology development, and data mapping.
- Technically fluent in at least one programming language.
- Direct, hands-on experience with automated integration tools, including Microsoft SQL Data Transformation Services, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, PowerShell, and Transact or T-SQL.
- Extensive knowledge of relational database design and management techniques, especially with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Confidence and experience with API protocols and schemas such as SOAP and REST.
- Experience securing integration scenarios using appropriate authentication, authorization, non-repudiation, and data encryption methods.
- Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding end-user requirements.
- Experience in understanding an organization's goals.
- Ability to travel and work occasional evenings/weekends as needed.
- Must pass a law enforcement-level background check (including fingerprinting for CJIS access).
All members of the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) are considered Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) under The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. As such, you are required to report Clery reportable offenses that come to your attention. DPSS employees are required to complete Clery Compliance Training within the first 14 days of employment and annually thereafter.
