Position Summary
The Systems and Discovery Services Librarian is a tenure-track, full-time academic faculty librarian reporting to the Director of Libraries. This position takes the lead in administering the library services platform, discovery system, information management systems, and digital asset management systems. The Systems and Discovery Services Librarian works in collaboration with other units of the library and Information Resources.

Major Responsibilities
The Systems and Discovery Services Librarian is a tenure-track, full-time academic faculty librarian reporting to the Director of Libraries. This position takes the lead in administering the library services platform, discovery system, information management systems, and digital asset management systems. The Systems and Discovery Services Librarian works in collaboration with other units of the library and Information Resources.
- Manages access, problem resolution, assessment, and discovery of all library technologies.
- Ensures that the library’s web presence is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
- Identifies training opportunities within the library regarding library technologies
- Creates usage reports to assist with collection management and administrative reporting.
- Serves as primary contact with internal departments and vendors concerning library technologies.
- Participates in the Library Instruction Program.
- Provides reference services at a desk, via technology, and by appointment. May work evenings and weekends as appropriate.
- Serves as a liaison to selected departments; provides general and specialized instruction to faculty and students in the department.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Librarianship/Information Science from an ALA accredited program;
- One year of experience implementing, managing, and supporting integrated library systems, digital repositories and discovery tools; (e.g., Aleph, Alma, ILLiad, Primo, Ebsco Discovery Service, Digital Commons, link resolvers, EZProxy);
- Ability to work successfully both as an active, collaborative team member and independently;
- Familiarity with professional standards, best practices, and emerging technologies in libraries;
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic library experience;
- Knowledge of supporting electronic resource lifecycle activities;
- Experience with reference service, collection development and/or instruction;
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with professional standards, best practices, and emerging technologies in libraries;
- Ability to work successfully both as an active, collaborative team member and independently.
- Knowledge of application programming interfaces ( API )
- Knowledge of Project Management software
