Why Your Role Matters:
The Australian Creative Histories & Futures (ACHF) is a national research infrastructure project being developed by researchers at UNSW’s School of the Arts & Media in collaboration with the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) as well as universities and industry partners across the country. The project will offer new and exciting insights into Australia’s creative history and heritage for scholars, policy makers, artists and authors alike.
The Project Manager plays a lead role within the School of the Arts & Media in the planning, development and implementation of projects, led by the Research Leads of Australian Creative Histories & Futures.
The role entails developing project planning documentation, identifying and building appropriate project teams and initiating and overseeing the project, including managing all stakeholder engagement and quality assurance. The Project Manager will also liaise with academics within the work unit and manage other internal and external relationships to ensure that project milestones and research outputs are met.
The role reports to the Research Leads of the Australian Creative Histories & Futures project.
Responsibilities Summary:
- Oversee and manage the delivery of the ACHF project and initiatives as guided by the Research Leads to achieve operational and strategic goals.
- Undertake day-to-day project management, including the development, the delivery and the evaluation including input into project planning and documentation.
- Manage the Australian Creative Histories & Futures website to ensure an up to date and front-facing presence which accurately reflects the progress of the project and different milestones.
- Manage project dependencies, risks, issues, change requests and financials and work with the project team to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
- Manage adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development and implementation.
- Partner with the Project Team and key stakeholders to plan and monitor progress of the ACHF project, identifying problems and proposing possible solutions.
- Manage the reporting of the ACHF project to UNSW and the ARDC.
- Organise the governance processes of the ACHF project including preparing meeting papers and minutes for the steering committee.
- Oversee and finalise effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project.

Skills and Experience Summary:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Proven experience effectively managing complex project stakeholder relationships.
- Extensive experience dealing with academics, and managing projects within the academic sphere
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- Experience managing publicly funded projects, handling public money, and managing the associated reporting requirements
- Previous experience working with Indigenous communities to successfully deliver projects would be advantageous
- High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
