Job Description:

Central College seeks a dynamic, student-centered colleague as our next assistant or associate director of career and professional development. 

This is a full-time administrative appointment reporting to the director of career development and civic engagement, working in-person as part of the learning enrichment team at Central College. The team is highly collaborative, strategic, and active in their engagement with students. Participating in the design and delivery of career-related workshops, programs, class presentations, and panels and helps students develop and refine resume-writing, interviewing, and job-search skills is a rewarding aspect of the position during the academic year and can include clarifying academic and career goals through individual career coaching. Planning for the year and launching an initiative to reach alumni is part of the focus when students are not on campus.

Students work daily with the dynamic staff in Career and Professional Development to develop resumes, apply for internships, prepare for graduate school, interview for jobs, and consider their future career. Staff work with businesses, alumni, faculty, and students to provide a rich and rewarding developmental approach to career exploration and advising. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of social media accounts as they relate to employment opportunities and sharing success stories. Our colleague will also collaborate in data gathering and management including assessment of career services and outcomes of graduates.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) with at least three years of experience in career development, higher education, or a similar field. Experience in career coaching is beneficial. The ability to collaborate effectively with students as well as with faculty, staff, alumni, and recruiters is essential. The position includes limited evening and occasional weekend participation for workshops, training, orientation, and the like. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom are required.
