Research and Policy Manager
Overview
The Research Program in Development Economics (RPDE) part of the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University seeks one experienced Research Manager/Senior Policy Associate who will support policy activities driven by the research of our senior faculty Pascaline Dupas, Seema Jayachandran, and other affiliated faculty. The center faculty conduct research in economics, with a strong policy focus. Current research interests of the group include health; education; gender inequality and gender-based violence; the environment; and how political and social institutions shape individual behavior. This position is focused on translating the research into policy insights, and driving policy decisions driven by the research led by RPDE faculty.
This is a benefits-eligible, one-year term appointment position with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Making RPDE research accessible for non-technical, policy-oriented audiences. This includes writing research briefs, op-eds, drafting slides decks; it can also involve writing proposals to foundations upstream of the research.
- Reviewing and systemizing studies, so they are shareable with policy audiences to increase the impact of RPDE's research.
- Writing policy reports with findings and working with all faculty to incorporate their feedback, researching and writing briefing memos for RPDE faculty on specified topics, i.e., background research.
- Conducting scoping exercises to help identify new research opportunities and partnerships. This could also involve outreach to policy stakeholders.
- Creating policy memos and outreach materials for all conferences and seminars.
- Creating case studies and other lecture materials as needed for training activities conducted by RPDE faculty.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in economics or public policy, or related fields. Advanced Degree preferred.
- 2+ years experience participating in research or demonstrated knowledge in related matters
- Ability to interact and function in a cross-disciplinary academic environment.
- Strong personal initiative (self-motivated and self-directed)
- Excellent research, communication and writing skills
- Proficient in the use of Stata or comparable statistical software for academic research
- High level of emotional intelligence, judgment and strategic agility
