Description
Adjunct faculty members will develop and teach courses in the Master of Occupational Therapy Program. Applicants with expertise in all areas of Occupational Therapy are welcome to apply. Applicants whose area of expertise meets the current needs of the program will be contacted.
The University expects that each member of the faculty will display a high degree of professionalism. By accepting and assuming an adjunct faculty position, your duties include, but are not limited to, the following professional responsibilities and obligations:
Responsibilities
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
- Experience teaching and developing online courses; Knowledge of Quality Matters standards and practices preferred;
- Knowledge of Learning Managements Systems, specifically D2L (Brightspace) preferred
- Prepare for and teach courses within area of expertise as assigned;
- To maintain professionalism, competence and knowledge of subject matter and strive to keep informed of contemporary development in the field of specialization through reading and research;
- To conduct each class according to the highest professional standards;
- To distribute to each student at the beginning of the course a syllabus following the UMU MSOT syllabus template
- To be available to students for advising and counseling on matters regarding their academic performance and progress in class;
- To treat all students fairly, impartially, and with understanding;
- To maintain adherence to course descriptions in accordance with the syllabus and the Course Catalog;
- To adhere to deadlines and schedules established for the timely reporting of grades and for other matters related to student registration and record keeping;
The individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities:
- Three years of clinical experience in the field of Occupational Therapy, teaching, or supervision of students preferred
- Communicate (speech, written) clearly with OT Faculty and students
Qualifications
- Must possess or be eligible for an Ohio Occupational Therapy License
- Be in good professional standing
- Master's degree, OTD, Ph.D., other terminal degree, and/or credentials related to the area of expertise.
