Position: Lecturer or Visiting Assistant Professor in Spanish, 1-year appointment Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits Starting Date: August 2024 Qualifications: Successful candidates will provide evidence of the following qualifications: Required M.A. in Spanish (specialization open) or related field by August 2024 for appointment as Visiting Lecturer. Near-native oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English. Relevant experience teaching beginning and intermediate Spanish; evidence of teaching excellence; promise of continued scholarly activity; and willingness to support the College’s mission and contribute to the strategic plan. Preferred Earned doctorate in Spanish (specialization open) or related field by August 2024 for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor. Demonstrated ability to teach another language at the elementary level desirable. DUTIES: • Teach three 14-week undergraduate courses in both fall and winter terms; Teach one 4-week May term course, for a total teaching load of seven courses (3-3-1). • In addition to instruction, hold office hours for students, grade tests and papers, provide other instruction-related duties, and mentor students. • Engage in scholarship and service appropriate to the liberal arts setting. • Actively participate in faculty development opportunities, attend faculty workshops, attend faculty meetings.
