MAE /CUSP Tenure Track faculty position
Description
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Center for Urban Science and Progress, both in the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position, with joint appointment in the two units, with a start date of September 1, 2024.
Qualifications
We encourage applications from candidates with expertise and interest in establishing research programs at the intersection of mechanical engineering and urban science, with emphasis on, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Urban systems (complexity, network science, nonlinear dynamics, and sociotechnical systems)
- Urban monitoring (data science, machine learning, robotics, and sensing
- Urban physics (climate, energy, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and sustainability)
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, urban science, or a related discipline. Candidates must demonstrate clear potential for scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, and obtaining extramural funding. All candidates must demonstrate or show potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary (for 9-month) range is $110,000 - $170,000 for the Assistant Professor rank. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
