Position Summary

Olivet Nazarene University, a Christian liberal arts institution, is seeking highly qualified course authors and writers to develop and revise courses for its expanding undergraduate Computer Science program and a new Master of Science in Management program with tracks in Information Technology and Computer Science. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing academic community, supporting ONU’s commitment to academic excellence and Christian values.


Courses may include one or more of the following:

  • Professional Practicum/Capstone Project
  • Advanced Database Systems
  • Machine Learning
  • Enterprise Architecture & Strategy
  • IT Project Management
  • Cloud Computing and Architecture
  • Cybersecurity and Information Assurance
  • Digital Law, Compliance, and Regulation
  • Cloud Security Development
  • Advanced Algorithms and Data Structures


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop undergraduate or graduate level courses in Computer Science and IT Management. This may include course syllabus, weekly objectives, assignments, and assessments.
  2. Ensure courses align with the program learning objectives and the university’s mission of integrating faith and learning.
  3. Incorporate current industry trends, technologies, and best practices into course content to prepare students for professional success.
  4. Work closely and meet regularly with department faculty and the instructional design team to create course materials.
  5. Teaching Opportunities: Potential to teach the developed courses and engage in continuous improvement and revisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  2. Demonstrated knowledge of educational delivery tools.
  3. Demonstrated teaching abilities.
  4. Demonstrated higher education experience.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency in using a learning management system.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of college learners.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Additional Information

EDUCATION

Terminal degree (Ph.D., D.Sc., etc.) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Candidates with a Master’s degree and significant industry experience and/or relevant certifications will also be considered. Previous course writing experience is preferred.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The course author or writer will work remotely with a member of the university’s instructional design team. If the course author is also interested in teaching, they must be willing to travel to the University’s main campus (Bourbonnais, Il) 1-2 times during the delivery of the course. Course authors, writers, and adjunct instructors are classified as part-time faculty, which does not afford benefits by the University.
