Position TitleAssistant or Associate Teaching ProfessorRequisition #F00017PFLSAExemptLocationIIT-Mies Campus (MC), 10 West 35th St., ChicagoGENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Department of Information Technology and Management (ITM) in the College of Computing at Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) invite applications for full-time, non-tenure-track teaching faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor ranks to begin January 2024 or later. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in information technology, management, cybersecurity, and digital forensics, both for majors and for non-majors.


The Department of Information Technology and Management offers Bachelor’s, Bachelor of Science, Master’s, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in information technology and applied cybersecurity / digital forensics—with multiple specializations covering both technical and management topics—and has over 900 students in the department.


Bachelor’s degrees in the Department of Information Technology and Management are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org, and Illinois Tech has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.


The Department of Information Technology and Management is part of the fast-growing College of Computing, which also has growing partnerships with Chicago’s burgeoning tech community and our local communities of Bronzeville and Bridgeport.

Qualifications

Education & ExperienceCandidates must have a Master’s degree or a research Doctorate in a relevant field and preferably at least two years of teaching experience.Knowledge & SkillsSuccessful candidates will have experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching and developing instructional materials. The selected candidate’s faculty appointment title will be determined by the hiring department, in its sole discretion, and be commensurate with the candidate’s experience. Candidates should possess demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:


  • Cybersecurity including network/operating system security technologies, steganography, penetration testing, digital forensic analysis, cryptography, cybersecurity frameworks, and cybersecurity team competitions.



  • Application and Software Development including languages such as Java and Python, APIs, frameworks, secure coding, IDEs, version control, and programming curriculum management.



  • Web Development including responsive web design, design concepts, JavaScript, jQuery, HCI, testing, AJAX, JSON, ARIA, SVG, the MEAN stack, full-stack frameworks/development, Web RTC, and Web APIs.



  • IT Entrepreneurship and Innovation focusing on the business applications of information technology and cybersecurity with proven knowledge and abilities in business innovation and information technology entrepreneurship.
