Department Chair and Assistant/Associate Professor, Exercise Physiology
The Exercise Physiology Department at the University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time position in Exercise Physiology as a Department Chair and Assistant/Associate Professor in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences for AY 2024-2025. We seek an individual with exceptional potential as a leader, teacher, and scholar who can contribute to our undergraduate program and complement existing departmental strengths. The Exercise Physiology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and is recognized by the NSCA Education Recognition Program. Specific Job Duties:
- Assure achievement of the program’s goals and outcomes
- Be responsible for all aspects of the program, including the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the program
- Provide supervision, administration and coordination of the instructional staff in the academic and clinical phases of the educational program
- Teach undergraduate courses in the Exercise Physiology program
- Oversee and organize recruitment and retention efforts.
- Active involvement in scholarship and service to the University
- Apply best practices to facilitate teaching and learning processes and principles with a commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Document student learning, interpret outcomes, and record grades.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate student, instructor, course, and program documentation.
- Establish and maintain professional and ethical boundaries with students, co-workers, and others in all learning environments.

Teaching Load:
- The normal teaching load is 9-12 credit hours per semester
Salary: Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience

Qualifications
Required Qualifications/Education:
- A terminal degree PhD or EdD from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas - Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Human Performance, Sports or Movement Science
- Work-related experience in the Exercise Sciences
- Evidence of leadership including curriculum development and teaching pedagogy
- Experience in undergraduate teaching
- Demonstrates cultural competency, and sensitivity to diverse, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff
Preferred qualifications of the candidate include:
- Prior experience as a Department Chair
- Prior experience in Exercise Physiology
- Evidence of experience with accrediting agencies
- ACSM-EP or NSCA-CSCS certification
