The School of Biomedical Sciences & Pharmacy is seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Officer – Sports Science to provide specialist technical and laboratory support for Exercise and Sports Science teaching and related activities.

This role supports undergraduate and postgraduate teaching delivered across Callaghan Campus and the Hunter Sports Centre, working closely with academic staff and technical colleagues to ensure high-quality, safe, and well-resourced laboratory classes.

In this role you will:

  • Provide specialist technical support for Exercise and Sports Science teaching laboratories
  • Coordinate, prepare, maintain and troubleshoot specialist laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Ensure laboratories operate in accordance with University health, safety and risk management requirements
  • Support practical teaching sessions, including preparation, set-up and pack-down of laboratories
  • Consult with academic staff to determine equipment, materials and space requirements for laboratory classes
  • Support the operations manager in external engagement activities (Athlete Testing Unit)
  • Maintain accurate records relating to equipment maintenance, usage and compliance

Things to consider

  • The role works across multiple locations (Callaghan Campus and Hunter Sports Centre)
  • Occasional out-of-hours or weekend work may be required to support teaching or events

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 5 Higher Education Worker Level and is based at Callaghan with requirements to work across other campuses.
