Technical Services Assistant
Job Summary
Provides entry-level technical support and assistance to staff and end-users. This role emphasizes hands-on experience, basic troubleshooting, and friendly customer service, while gaining exposure to common IT operational practices in a professional environment.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist with basic desktop support tasks, including logging issues and escalating as needed.
- Monitor and respond to Help Desk emails and tickets under supervision.
- Set up, relocate, or organize computer hardware and peripherals with guidance.
- Perform routine hardware checks (e.g., cable connections, power issues).
- Help with inventory tracking, labeling, and device verification tasks.
- Follow documented procedures for software installation and account setup.
- Shadow IT staff on troubleshooting and support tasks.
- Create or update simple user guides or documentation based on templates.
- Other duties as assigned by the IT supervisor.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong interest in technical troubleshooting and IT operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks reliably.
