Technician I

Position Description

Performs minor mechanical and/or analytical duties on various projects. Work is performed under general guidelines using established procedures and evaluated on results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions

• Greeting and registering patients into the Laboratory at the Student Health Services Clinic.
• Specimen collection and specimen processing.
• Work is performed under general supervision, using established procedures, and is evaluated based on the results obtained.
• Work in this class may expose workers to infectious materials; they must work with machinery or equipment, requiring the use of safety precautions and personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Phlebotomy Certification.
• Experience and skill in collecting blood specimens.
• Preparing and processing specimens for testing.
• Computer EHR/LIS systems.

Required Qualifications

High School or equivalent and two years work experience.
