Clinical Coordinator for Nursing - College of Integrated Health Sciences
Job Description
The University at Albany is seeking a full-time, highly organized and detail-oriented nursing professional to serve as the Clinical Coordinator for the Nursing Program within the College of Integrated Health Sciences. This position plays a critical role in supporting clinical education operations for undergraduate nursing students, ensuring effective coordination of clinical placements, maintenance of student clinical records, and tracking of simulation and virtual reality (VR) experiences used to meet clinical requirements. The clinical coordinator should expect to manage a minimum of 200 new students each academic year.
The Clinical Coordinator serves as a liaison between the nursing program, clinical affiliates, and community partners to ensure compliance with accreditation and state regulations, optimize student clinical experiences, and support the overall success of clinical education within the program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Clinical Lab Oversight and Advanced Management: Lead the development and coordination of lab schedules and open lab hours; direct scheduling of lab sections; oversee student skill validations and remediation plans; supervise maintenance of lab spaces and equipment; administer procurement strategies; lead implementation of standardized lab experiences; design tracking systems for competency outcomes.
- Clinical Placement Coordination: Identify and secure clinical placements; maintain affiliation agreements; confirm placement details; serve as primary contact for clinical sites; oversee student clinical clearance requirements.
- Curriculum Development and Program Support: Partner with faculty on curriculum development and continuous improvement; support accreditation readiness; develop policies related to lab and clinical education.
- Simulation and Technology Integration: Provide orientation to simulation through clinical labs and support high-fidelity simulation programming.
- Program and Partner Support: Assist with development and renewal of clinical site partnerships; participate in program meetings and quality improvement efforts.
