Temporary Adjunct - School of Nursing

Summary:

D’Youville’s Patricia H. Garman School of Nursing is seeking an outstanding candidate for a temporary adjunct faculty position. This role will provide leadership in teaching, service, and scholarly activity. We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply. Faculty rank will be commensurate with education and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs within a shared governance framework.
  • Utilize a variety of active teaching and learning strategies to meet diverse student learning styles, including lectures, lab/clinical teaching, online, and hybrid instruction.
  • Engage in scholarship as outlined by the Boyer model, including teaching, discovery, application, implementation, and engagement.
  • Participate in service activities that support D’Youville University, the nursing profession, and the community.
  • Teaching responsibilities will be limited to 12-18 credit hours per contract year (Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters included).

Requirements:

  • (Preferred) Earned doctorate in nursing or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Master’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Unencumbered RN license (and APRN license and national certification in specialty if hired for FNP/DNP program) to practice in New York, or eligibility for licensure in New York.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Three to five years of academic experience in nursing in higher education, with a record of teaching, service, and research.
  • Demonstrated active and visible practice of scholarly and creative research commensurate with the position.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning climate for students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Focused on student success and engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and provide effective instruction across multiple degree programs.
  • Participate in accreditation activities and contribute to the development and evaluation of academic programs.
  • Hold on-campus office hours as outlined by the School of Nursing.

Pay – $35,000 (Contract)

Job Type – Temporary Adjunct, Contract, Non-Exempt

12-18 Credit hours per year

The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
