This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months. Job Summary:
As a member of the CU Anschutz Financial Aid & Scholarships team, the Temporary Financial Aid Advisor provides comprehensive, student-centered support to health professions students and their families on all aspects of educational funding. Through in-person, virtual, phone, and email interactions, this role supports students in navigating financial aid application processes, meeting documentation requirements, understanding complex federal, state, and institutional regulations, and making informed decisions about financing their education.
In addition to advising, this temporary position contributes to processing activities, outreach and presentation efforts, and financial wellness initiatives that support student recruitment, retention, and success. The advisor will be assigned to support program-specific areas, serving as a point of contact for routine questions, sharing updates, coordinating follow-up tasks, and helping ensure consistent application of financial aid policies and procedures. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, student-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive financial aid advising to students and families across multiple modalities (in-person, virtual, phone, and email), ensuring accurate, timely, and student-centered service
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations to guide students on eligibility, application processes, and funding options
- Review documentation, resolve conflicting information, and support processing activities including verification, appeals, and general student requests
- Support program-specific areas by serving as a point of contact, responding to routine inquiries, and coordinating follow-up actions with campus partners
- Assist with outreach, presentations, and financial literacy initiatives to enhance student awareness and promote informed financial decision-making
- Maintain clear, consistent communication using department-approved messaging while meeting established service-level expectations
- Participate in training, cross-functional collaboration, and process improvement efforts to support operational efficiency and compliance
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule. A minimum of three days per week of in-office support are required. Additional days or times may be required for in-person meetings or events.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis, but not for the specific experience.
- One year of professional level experience in financial aid, admissions, advising and/or scholarships office or related field that focuses on customer services in a financial context (ex. Banking, Advisory, Wealth Management, Insurance, University/College, TRIO/Upward Bound etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with graduate and professional students, especially those in health-related programs.
- Experience working with Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
- Experience working with Federal and State financial aid regulations.
- Knowledge and experience counseling student debt.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality, student-centered customer service.
- Strong public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills across a variety of audiences and formats.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical, research, critical-thinking, and organizational abilities.

- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, campus partners, and external stakeholders.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The hiring rate for this position has been established at $22.47 hour. The above salary rate represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.
