Tenure-Stream Assistant Professor in Clinical or Developmental Psychology

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in clinical or developmental psychology or a closely related field at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the fall semester of 2026.

Colgate is a top liberal arts college where excellence in both teaching and research is expected and supported. The successful candidate will join a psychological science and neuroscience faculty deeply committed to a strong, research-oriented program and to a curriculum that integrates psychological science and neuroscience perspectives. The department is housed in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art building. Colgate supports faculty in their research program through competitive startup funds, internal grants, and support for securing external funding. Colgate recently inaugurated a new Mind, Brain and Behavior Initiative that provides support and opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching and collaborative research.

Faculty teach the equivalent of five courses per year. Teaching responsibilities are likely to include departmental core courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychological Science, Research Methods, or Statistics); Psychopathology or Developmental Psychology; an advanced elective in the candidate’s area of expertise; and supervision of senior thesis projects (normally counting as one course). The successful candidate also will be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.

The salary range is $94,800 (for ABD applicants) to $98,800 (for applicants with a Ph.D. in hand). Faculty are eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes housing assistance and health insurance. Colgate strives to be a community supportive of diverse perspectives and identities.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field, with scholarly interests in psychopathology, clinical science, or child/adolescent socio-emotional development. Completion of the Ph.D. is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.

Review of applications will begin on September 12, 2025, and continue until the position is filled. Candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statements of teaching and research interests, and the names of three individuals prepared to provide letters of recommendation. In their teaching statement, candidates must describe their ability to work effectively with students across a wide range of identities and backgrounds. Application materials must be submitted through Interfolio.
