Basic Functions

VOLUNTARY REASSIGNMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE FIRST 7 WORKING DAYS (FULL TIME FACULTY ONLY), JANUARY 14, 2026 AT 5:00 PM

10-Month Tenure Track Position

COMPENSATION:

Initial salary placement ranges from $67,886 to $106,308, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $142,425.

Representative Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be present on campus to teach face-to-face classes and hold in-person office hours.
  • Participate in the Business Administration department annual program review.
  • Participate in full- time faculty responsibilities, including, but not limited to department meetings, office hours, committee assignments, program development, and staff development activities.
  • Demonstrate work experience with assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), and to use the results to make improvements in teaching and learning.
  • Promote the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including dual enrollment at high school sites, evening and/or weekends, hyflex, correspondence education and in hybrid and online formats as needed.
  • Demonstrate a student-centered approach to teaching to inspire and motivate students to succeed.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities in the discipline, including club advising.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education OR bachelors in any of the above AND masters in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) OR bachelors in economics with a business emphasis AND masters in personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) OR the equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of two years teaching accounting courses, particularly financial and managerial accounting, at the community college level.
  • Experience using Canvas learning management system (LMS) from an instructional standpoint.
  • Distance education (DE) certified in Canvas learning management system (LMS).
  • Recent classroom experience with a diverse range of students, including underrepresented populations and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
  • Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including special needs students.
  • A minimum of five years of business experience, preferably accounting and/or auditing experience, in the private and/or public sector.
  • Knowledge in spreadsheet and accounting software.
  • Experience in developing and teaching online and hybrid courses.
  • Instruct students in a full range of classes appropriate to the accounting discipline including, but not limited to personal and business tax, financial and managerial accounting, governmental and non-profit accounting, computerized accounting (QuickBooks), bookkeeping, payroll, and accounts receivables.

Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Some specialized courses may require specific certificates (must meet minimum content requirements specified by outside/other agencies based on accreditation).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.

Knowledge and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Knowledge of developing course syllabi
  • Knowledge of fostering inclusive environments for student learning
  • Knowledge of integrating accessible practices into course design and teaching strategies
  • Knowledge and ability to teach and support students across multiple modalities including, online, hybrid, remote, HyFlex, and correspondence while maintaining engagement and accessibility.
  • Knowledge and ability to maintain compliance with all third-party accrediting bodies by keeping required credentials, certifications, and regulatory standards current when applicable.

ABILITY TO:

  • Ability to work effectively in person through clear communication, collaboration, and adaptability in diverse professional settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain current in ones discipline through ongoing professional development, research, and engagement with emerging trends and best practices.
  • Ability to use advanced technology in the classroom
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to use Canvas or other LMS platforms
  • Ability to interact with others (faculty, staff, students, administration)
