Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor Position in Parkinson’s Disease or Other Movement Disorders – Department of Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics
The Department of Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics (DNET) at Albany Medical College (AMC) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position to start in Fall 2026. We seek candidates using innovative approaches to address impactful scientific questions related to Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders to interact in a department with strengths in stroke, epilepsy, aging, dementia, sex differences, fertility, sleep, and peripheral neuropathy. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an independent research program and to contribute to graduate and medical physiology education. Applicants with extramural funding, such as career transition awards or R-level grants, are particularly encouraged to apply.
Clinical Collaboration Opportunities:
AMC has a long history of fostering translational collaborations between basic scientists and clinicians, particularly in the area of movement disorders. Faculty have opportunities to partner closely with experienced clinicians, including movement disorder specialists. AMC also offers internal seed funding to catalyze new clinical collaborations and accelerate translational impact. In addition, we are fortunate to have strong support from local philanthropic partners which actively fundraises to support innovative clinical and translational research in Parkinson’s disease. Albany Medical College:

Requirements:
A Ph.D. and/or MD degree and three years of productive post-doctoral experience are required. Applicants with career development awards or existing extramural funding will be given priority. A commitment to excellence in teaching is also necessary, as department faculty have an essential role in the college's graduate and medical education missions. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 per year for Assistant Professor or $120,000 - $140,000 for Associate Professor, depending on experience.
