Haverford College invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Neuroscience.
Haverford College is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Neuroscience (open area). The successful candidate will join the thriving Bi-College (Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges) Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program, which offers both a major and minor in Neuroscience. Candidates will teach the equivalent of five courses across the academic year, including teaching credit for supervising senior thesis research. The position begins July 1, 2026, for the fall semester of 2026, and it is expected that the Ph.D. will be completed prior to the start date. Postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
Haverford is designated as a Research College and University by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Faculty are expected to mount an independent, productive research program with potential for extramural funding. The successful candidate will be able to teach effectively at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, including Introduction to Neuroscience, intermediate and advanced content courses in their area of expertise, laboratory courses, and senior thesis research supervision. Candidates whose teaching and research falls within the areas of cellular/molecular neuroscience and/or computational neuroscience are especially encouraged to apply. We cannot accommodate additional research programs that require housing for vertebrate model organisms (e.g., rodents, fish, birds, non-human primates) on campus. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to engaging a wide range of students from different backgrounds and experiences and creating an inclusive classroom environment in a liberal arts context.

- A Teaching Statement (2-3 pages) describing your teaching and mentoring experience, teaching philosophy, and/or curricular plans, as well as articulating how you would foster inclusion and success in a diverse student body through your teaching and mentoring. Applicants are also welcome to highlight in their statements any curricular connections to the College's other departments or interdisciplinary programs.
