Job Description Summary
Provide entry-level technical, logistical, and patron support within the Center for Performing Arts and other campus venues while broadening and refining core skills through experiential learning.
Continuous recruitment for this position.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION
High School Diploma required.
EXPERIENCE
No experience required
Demonstrated experience in a performing art setting or venue preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of basic theatrical concepts and terminology
Ability to operate theatrical equipment with and, at times, without supervision
Ability to function at a high level within stressful situations
Ability to work safely within a team environment
Ability to speak and write effectively in English
Ability to operate in multiple physical positions and at heights in excess of 40ft.
Ability to work with heavy equipment and supplies ranging from 35 pounds to 100+ pounds.
Ability to work with specialized Theater equipment and standard tools, control surfaces, buttons/levers hand tools, ladders, and personnel lifts

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist with Front of House duties such as: checking in of guests, scanning tickets, and seating of guests, respectful accommodation and support of patrons with additional needs, as well as monitoring theater patrons for food, recording, or camera use.
- Assist with various Box Office related tasks including ticket sales and preparing tickets for will call.
- Provide excellent customer experience to all who enter the Center for Performing Arts including addressing customer concerns or questions, directing patrons, or creating and providing signage for events and venues.
- Assist with artists hospitality set-up, pre-show check lists, post-show checklist and other duties as assigned.
- Assist with technical tasks such as set-up, installation, and operation of stage equipment, AV equipment, and Theatrical Lighting.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the production spaces, performing venues, and event equipment.
- Assist in the construction, set-up, and breakdown, of scenery as required.
- Assist in the on-stage shifting/manipulation of stage scenery and/or props.
- Assist in the safe entrance/exit of talent to and from stage
- Assist in set-up, installation, and operation of any theatrical effects (i.e. stage fog) or the performance of related duties (clean-up, “Fire Watch”, etc.)
- Assist in supervised activities related to the set-up, installation, and safe operation of theatrical rigging and/or fly systems.
- Represents the College in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
- Assist and perform with the Assistant Technical and Supervisor Event Support Staff; and/or another Group or Organization’s Staff, in the execution of a work-shift or presentation of an event.
- Assist and perform in monitoring the overall physical condition of the stage and the Theater spaces; coordinating or assisting in repairs as possible and reporting problems that cannot be corrected to the Assistant Technical or Supervisor Event Support Staff.
- Ensures safe egress of all aisles and exits of the stage and Theater spaces, maintaining a safe distance around objects for safety.
- Assist and perform in executing technical Theater maintenance and improvement of equipment, stage, and Theater spaces; coordinate and assist in repairing equipment or when necessary make appropriate arrangements to have equipment repaired.

Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Availability to work nights and weekends as required
- Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions will be required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
- As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
- A background investigation will be conducted prior to offer of employment. A signed authorization for release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
