Theatre Staff (Pool) - Mount Wachusett Community College
This particular job posting is a "Pool" position. There may or may not be available openings at this time however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis. General Statement of Duties:
MWCC's Theatre at the Mount employs part-time theatre staff including directors, music directors, choreographers, stage managers, costumers, technical assistants, lighting and sound designers for Theatre at the Mount productions. Each year, Theatre at the Mount's season includes large scale musicals, comedies, children's musicals, and a fall touring show. Show titles and production schedules vary from one season to the next.
Responsibilities:
- Attend regular production meetings with production staff and crews;
- Plan for and conduct auditions;
- Prepare contact lists, rehearsal schedules, costumes plots and other related documents as required by the producing director;
- Conduct 3 or more weekly rehearsals for a period of 6 to 10 weeks;
- Provide leadership for all artistic and creative elements of the production;
- Ensure that college policies and procedures are followed;
- Assist the producing director with promotional and marketing efforts;
- Recruit volunteers for stage crew, properties, and other backstage functions, as needed.
Shows
Show titles are announced from 6 to 18 months in advance of production. A typical season includes:
- August - large scale musical
- October - comedy, mystery, or drama; or small scale musical
- October/November - children's touring show; performed at local elementary schools
- November/December - large scale holiday, family-friendly musical
- February/March - large scale musical
- April - annual children's musical
- June - special event or concert
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pertinent experience in community or college theatre
