Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Supercomputing and High-Performance Computing

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Stephen J. R. Smith Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s University invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured Tier 2 Canada Research Chair position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with specialization in supercomputing, high performance computing, and extreme-scale systems. Applicants with expertise in computing systems for modelling and simulation, digital twins, and AI infrastructure are especially encouraged to apply. The position will support research in Supercomputing and High-Performance Computing and expand the Computer Engineering program, which includes 38 full-time Faculty and over 200 graduate students and postdocs. The preferred start date is July 1, 2026.
Tier 2 Canada Research Chair
Canada Research Chairs foster research excellence. The successful candidate must meet requirements for a Tier 2 Chair, including being an excellent emerging world-class researcher with demonstrated creativity, potential for international recognition, ability to attract and retain trainees, and an original research program.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a PhD or equivalent degree, a background in supercomputing systems, ability to design and build supercomputers, extensive experience with software on supercomputers (e.g., Slurm, Message Passing Interface, NCCL/RCCL), and enthusiasm for teaching supercomputing/HPC. Main criteria include high-quality research, teaching aptitude, collaborative ability, and professional engineering licensure in Canada. Postdoctoral and/or industrial experience is an asset.
The successful candidate will contribute through service and receive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
