Tiro a Segno Fellowships in Italian-American Studies
The Department of Italian Studies and the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at New York University invite applications for two Tiro a Segno Fellowships in Italian American Studies, to be held, ideally, during Fall 2026 (9/1/2026 to 12/31/2026) and Fall 2028 (9/1/2028 to 12/31/2028) respectively, pending administrative and budgetary approval. Field is open; applications from the areas of history, visual culture, anthropology, religious studies, and cultural studies are particularly encouraged.
This visiting fellowship is open to academics of any rank with demonstrated expertise and a publishing record in Italian American studies, broadly conceived. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, or Visiting Professor for one semester. He or she will teach two courses (one undergraduate and one graduate) and will be required to offer two public lectures under the auspices of the Tiro a Segno Foundation.
Recent course topics taught by Tiro a Segno Visiting Professors covered Italian-American labor history, Italian-American film, Italian-American literature, and Italian-American immigration history.
Pay Transparency Statement
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary for this position is $45,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
