Title VI and Title IX Compliance Investigator

Stanford University has an opening for a full-time Title VI/Title IX Compliance Investigator ("Investigator"). Title VI prohibited conduct includes discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin. Title IX prohibited conduct includes discrimination on the basis of sex including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. The Investigator will be part of Stanford's SHARE Title IX and Title VI Office.
Job Purpose
The Investigator will report to the University's Title IX and Title VI Coordinator and Associate Vice Provost of the SHARE Team ("Coordinator"). Under the direction of the Coordinator, the Investigator will conduct intake, assessment, and informal and formal complaint resolution processes of reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation on the basis of sex, race, color, and national origin.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with institutional policy and applicable state and federal laws
- Consult and collaborate with the Coordinator to monitor and manage Title VI and Title IX reports to ensure timely and effective response
- Serve as the investigator for complaints alleging discrimination or harassment on the basis of sex, race, color, and national origin, including sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation/intimidation
- Analyze misconduct allegations for elements of applicable University policy violations
- Interview reporting parties, complainants, respondents, and witnesses.
- Identify and gather relevant documentary and other evidence
- Facilitate informal resolution processes including conflict coaching, facilitated conversations, shuttle diplomacy, mediation, and restorative practice
- Assess reports of alleged misconduct to identify and facilitate appropriate and reasonably available interim supportive measures for parties and witnesses
- Manage initial and ongoing communication and official notices to parties and relevant campus administrators
- Timely maintain accurate and complete records and notes of all investigative and informal resolution processes
- Write clear, impartial, accurate investigative reports
- Ensure that formal and informal resolution processes are prompt, thorough, and impartial
- Assist in developing and implementing campuswide Title IX and Title VI training and education
- Collaborate with institutional partners and leadership to ensure that formal and informal resolution processes, including investigations, are conducted in compliance with applicable policies, collective bargaining agreements, and requirements of state and federal laws
- Coordinate with campus offices and partners in the Office of Community Standards, Residential Education, the Graduate Life Office, Employee & Labor Relations, etc.
- Provide periodic, timely updates regarding the status of complaints received and investigations in progress to the Coordinator
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of direct experience or four (4) years of relevant experience required. A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience strongly preferred. Experience working in higher education strongly preferred. Law or other graduate degree strongly preferred.

The expected pay range for this position is $124,540 to $146,275 per annum.
