General Description
The TRIO EOC/GRIT Program Support Specialist will assist the program coordinator with recruiting and assisting 850 Guidance for Realizing Individual Transformation (GRIT) participants in enrolling in post-secondary education or obtaining a credential.
This appointment is contingent upon availability of grant funding. Once the funds from the grant that provide funding for this appointment are no longer available, this appointment may be terminated without cause upon written notice to the employee.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. - PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Career Transitions office, OCCC campus, and off-site outreach locations.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, administration, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently use upper and lower body to exert force up to 10 pounds to lift materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. - VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. - WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job Duties (Position Specific)

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
- Responsible for initiating and completing project activities which take place at the College, community agencies, churches, businesses, and community organizations.
- Conducts academic enrichment workshops both on campus and off campus to include workshops on financial literacy education, study skills, test-taking skills, and time management.
- Provides individual and group counseling, career development counseling, and information on post-secondary education opportunities.
- Assists students in completing post-secondary education admissions applications and financial aid forms, and coaching for entrance exams.
- Must travel within the assigned counties (Grady, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Oklahoma, and Pottawatomie) to identify and assist clients with post-secondary education enrollment or obtaining a credential.
- Maintains and updates a participant recruitment base of applicants and provides monthly applicant follow up via phone call, visit, email, etc.
- Administer career assessment inventories to participants or refer to the College's certified practitioner for assessment.
- Provide follow-up with clients to ensure that they are enrolled in college and making progress.
- Assist in the development and/or selection of program marketing materials including flyers, brochures, posters, and multi-media presentations.
- Must be flexible in coordinating and participating in both on and off campus program activities, i. e. meetings, conferences, participant activities.
- Perform other duties outlined by the GRIT Program Coordinator and the Director of TRIO programs within the parameters of the U. S. Department of Education guidelines.
- Must maintain current knowledge of programs, trends, and new developments in federal TRIO programs.
- Serve on various College committees as assigned.
- Must be able to work in a college environment.
- Must demonstrate interpersonal skills applicable to working with diverse groups of employees, students, and patrons.
- Must provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
- Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
- Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
- Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
- Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
