UFT Dental Assistant Faculty
Job Description
Anoka-Ramsey Community College is seeking two (2) dental assistant professionals to teach across the program’s curriculum. Primary responsibilities include delivering lecture, lab, and clinic instruction; evaluating student performance; and facilitating laboratory and simulation/clinic skill development—including selected simulation/clinic skills evaluations. Faculty members are expected to participate in department, division, campus, and college initiatives through committee service, regular meetings, and continued professional development.
The Dental Assisting Faculty position supports Anoka–Ramsey Community College’s mission by preparing students for successful careers as both unlicensed and licensed professional dental assistants. This program is designed for individuals seeking the knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies required to work effectively in a variety of dental practice settings.
The program follows a comprehensive curriculum that integrates didactic, laboratory, and simulation/clinic instruction followed by an internship. It emphasizes patient–centered care, infection control, chairside assisting, radiography, dental materials, and professional standards essential to safe, ethical dental practice in the diploma and AAS programs. Graduates are prepared to function as integral members of the dental healthcare team and to meet industry expectations for entry–level employment.
The Dental Assisting Department values innovative and student–centered instructional practices, including active learning strategies, hands–on laboratory experiences, community–based learning, and integration of digital tools. New faculty are encouraged to implement comparable innovative practices to support student success.
This position will be located on our Cambridge campus. This position will be open through May 15, 2026. However, those that apply by April 6, 2026, will be considered first.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
Bachelor degree and graduate of an accredited dental assisting program.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a dental assistant.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
Dental Assistant certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Current Dental Assistant License from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.
Preferred Qualification
- Post-secondary teaching experience (clinical, classroom and laboratory instruction in an accredited dental program).
- Teaching experience including educational theory and methodology
- Experience with curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation.
- Experience working with diverse clientele
- Ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom
- Ability to Work collaboratively to achieve departmental, divisional or institutional initiatives
Salary & Benefits
Full-time faculty salaries are based on an evaluation of education and related experience after a job offer has been accepted and currently range from $51,303 -$94,592. Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, paid personal and sick leave, retirement savings plans, tuition waiver for employees and dependents, professional development funds, along with many optional benefit programs.
Please note, Initial Step Placement is established by the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) contract which sets limitations to the initial salary of a new faculty member. This may differ from the maximum salary range in this posting. For more information, please visit the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
