VPUE is seeking an Undergraduate Advising Director in Academic Advising. Undergraduate Advising Directors (UADs) hold professional academic advising positions in the Office of Academic Advising and have direct oversight of the academic advising and progress toward the degree of all undergraduates in their assigned residences. UADs identify, clarify, and resolve complex issues for students, using expert knowledge of advising and University policy, as well as independent judgment.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide direct advice to students on a range of issues including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., to assist them in making appropriate academic choices and decisions.
  • Apprise students of research, fellowship and scholarship opportunities, and co-curricular opportunities.
  • In collaboration with other UADs and Academic Advising colleagues, develop and implement programming, make strategic recommendations for future programs.
  • Analyze and help develop report requirements, portals, and student facing communications.
  • Manage outreach programs, relationships with university partners.
  • Resolve substantial issues which may span multiple areas, using advanced technical and professional knowledge.
  • Interpret and implement university policy related to academic policies; oversee the implementation of policies and practices for a student population or school.
  • Oversee key processes, including contribution and direction on policy and program content.
  • Provide consulting advice to internal and external organizations; act as subject matter expert in a specialized field.
  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks. Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience, required.
  • Advanced communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to review and analyze complex information.
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.

In addition, preferred requirements include:

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred)
  • Three years advising, teaching and/or conducting research.
  • Advanced skills in coaching student decision making.
  • Ability to guide and review undergraduate research grants.

The expected pay range for this position is $105,087 - $124,900 per annum.
