Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
This position provides general support to patrons and visitors of F.D. Bluford Library. The primary duties of the position will be to serve the informational and research needs of students, faculty, staff and the general public.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The mission of F. D. Bluford Library is to serve the informational needs of the students, faculty, and staff of North Carolina A&T State University in their pursuit of academic excellence and lifelong learning. The Library’s vision and core value statements emphasize equal access to learners (including distance learners), scholarly research, and lifelong learning are consistent with the University’s emphasis on scholarly research and continuous quality learning. Access Services is driven to provide appropriate levels of circulation services, collection maintenance, public assistance, and materials processing. The library user is our focus and excellent service to users is the mission of all Access Services activities.
Work Hours
7:30am-4:30pm Tuesday-Thursday, Friday 11:00am-8:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am-7:00pm

Hybrid (Employees are working part-time in the office to perform job tasks that require on-campus engagement, and the remaining time at home)

Duties
Knowledgeable of overall operations of the library and performs circulation desk duties as assigned. Applies general library standards, procedures, techniques, systems, working manuals, and reference sources while enforcing Access Services policies/procedures. Circulates library materials according to procedures, registers patrons, updates file(s), correctly arranges materials in correct call number order on book trucks. Uses library applications (internal and external) in a networked environment to retrieve information. Assist patrons in location and use of bound and unbound serials and government documents. Help patrons with locating information in the microforms room and using the machine. Shelves returned serial and government document books and pamphlets.

Duties
Assists clients/patrons in basic use of resources and facilities with standard technical issues such as logging onto computers, paper jams, etc. in using technology such as the printer, scanner, copy machine, and mobile equipment (laptops, camcorders, headphones, and microphones). Recommends service changes to meet patron needs by identifying solutions to printing issues for the posters being printed through the plotter printers. Assists clients with Microsoft Office questions relating to MS Word, MS Power point, MS Publisher, etc. Monitors the daily environment of the Learning Commons area and ensures a quiet study environment.

Duties
Uses established filing and data systems, functions, and/or procedures. Reviews formatted materials for accuracy by alphabetizing books in the correct LC call order and shelving daily. Answers questions and identifies problems or obstacles for patrons with Respondus Lockdown. Identifies alternative solutions, and refers more complicated problems with Respondus Lockdown to a higher-level Faculty member. Collects general statistics such as head count, magazine and newspaper use, etc. Process Government Documents in the system.
