Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Represent Fairmont State University at the following events:
  • Home athletic events
  • Select away athletic games and tournaments (as needed)
  • Foundation and alumni events
  • Student activities and campus events (typically 1–2 hours in length)
  • Campus visitation programs, including Parent & Family Weekend, Maroon & White Days, and Open Houses
  • Limited community engagements and outreach events
  • Additional events as designated by Campus Recreation or the Office of the President
• Generate crowd interaction, school spirit, and positive fan experiences at all appearances
• Participate in in-game promotions, halftime shows, and fan engagement activities
• Pose for photos with fans and event attendees
• Maintain mascot costume and equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good condition
• Maintain the physical stamina and conditioning necessary to safely perform mascot duties
• Uphold a professional, respectful demeanor as a representative of Fairmont State University at all times

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at Fairmont State University
• Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Physically capable of wearing and performing in the mascot costume, including:
  • Executing athletic and animated movements
  • Managing varying temperatures inside the costume (hydration and rest breaks are required)
• Must have no health or physical conditions that would pose a safety risk while performing as Freddie
• Must have personal health insurance and complete both a Medical Release Form and a Code of Conduct Agreement
• Must demonstrate strong school spirit, enthusiasm, and a willingness to engage with diverse audiences
• Flexible schedule is required; institutional excuses will be provided for any approved events that conflict with academic classes
