UNSW AI Institute Project Officer
The Opportunity
The Faculty of Engineering has a continuous (permanent) opportunity for a Project Officer to be based within the UNSW AI Institute—a pan-university initiative established with the vision of positioning UNSW as a global leader in developing AI as a safe, reliable, and ubiquitous technology for the benefit of society. In this role, you will provide project coordination, executive support, reporting, and respond to complex enquiries using sound judgment, initiative, technical expertise, and discretion. You will also contribute to communications, build key internal and external relationships, and provide administrative support for key programs and projects.
This role reports to the Director of the UNSW AI Institute, Dr Sue Keay, and has no direct reports.
- Salary, Level 6: $103,866 to $110,801 per annum + 17% superannuation

Skills and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- At least 5 years’ experience in administration, with PA/EA experience to senior management in a large and complex multi stakeholder research institution or equivalent highly regarded.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables.
- Stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications. Advanced word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, internet and e-mail skills, including proficiency with computer packages including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, managing multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
