Job Description
The OU Marketing and Communications video team is seeking a dynamic, hands-on storyteller to serve as a videographer/editor in the creation of high-impact video content to support an array of educational partnerships on all three campuses at the University of Oklahoma. It is responsible for leading all aspects of visual media creation, including overseeing concept development, production, and delivery of high-quality video and photography content. This role combines creative vision with strong project management and technical expertise to craft compelling stories that elevate the brand, engage audiences, and support marketing, communications, and social media initiatives.
Essential Duties:
- Leads the planning, production, and post-production of all video and photo projects, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and university goals.
- Develops and executes creative concepts, storyboards, and shot lists for campaigns, social media, events, and internal communications.
- Works alongside the team to also shoot and capture video and photography in the field, including setup and breakdown of filming locations and equipment.
- Directs photo and video shoots, ensuring visual consistency and quality across all deliverables.
- Supervise and mentor assigned staff by fostering a collaborative and innovative creative environment.
- Provides training to others in editing techniques, and the use of video equipment.
- Works closely with internal logistics coordinator to ensure proper locations are chosen and scheduled, along with other production needs.
- Manages vendor relationships and negotiate contracts with production partners.
- Oversees editing, color grading, motion graphics, and sound design processes.
- Ensures timely delivery of assignments while maintaining the highest production standards.
- Implements and maintains efficient media management and archiving systems.
- Collaborates with internal and external departments to create content that supports campaigns, brand storytelling, and audience engagement.
- Stays current with visual trends, tools, and techniques to continuously innovate and improve production quality.
- Establish and track KPIs for production efficiency and content performance.
- Assist with equipment inventory and maintenance, including procurement, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Videography, Film Production, Photography, Media Arts, or related field, AND:
- 5 years of experience in video, photography, production, editorial or related field
Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.
Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of video and photography production workflows.
- Understanding of storytelling principles, brand identity, and visual communication strategies.
- Knowledge of camera systems, lenses, lighting setups, and audio equipment, as well as current production technology and trends.
- Familiarity with digital asset management, metadata, and archival systems for photo and video content.
- Extensive knowledge of camera systems and related production equipment.
- Proficient in lighting design and audio recording techniques for video and photography.
- Strong editing skills using industry-standard software such as DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Skilled in preparing reports, project documentation, and production schedules within established timelines.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Media Composer, or comparable post-production software.

- Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
- Ability to move and lift heavy objects for prolonged periods, including broadcast camera equipment. Manual dexterity.
- Requires ability to travel and work on location.
- Works weekends and evenings as needed.
- Occasional travel for shoots, events, meetings, or department activities.
- Ability to lift and transport production equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Flexible hours during campaigns, campus activities, or production periods.
