Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has the privilege and responsibility of being the primary point of contact for students seeking admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as undergraduates. In its role evaluating first-year and transfer students, the office works tirelessly to identify, recruit, admit, and welcome students who will positively contribute to our campus, state, and nation. The office also supports students by providing academic counseling, sponsors hundreds of events encouraging students to further their education, and works to enhance the image of the University locally and nationally. Members of the office understand that their work is intensely public and is closely followed by students and their families; secondary-school teachers and administrators; University faculty and staff; lawmakers; and media.
Position Summary:
The Visit Support Specialist in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will warmly welcome and provide great care to all prospective students, families, and other visitors to the office; counsel students about admission to Carolina; provide administrative support to the visit and event initiatives within the admissions office; assist students, parents, and counselors who call or email the admissions office regarding admission to Carolina and other inquiries; conduct campus tours or lead campus tours as necessary; and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Management Preferences:
- Demonstrated ability to create a welcoming and customer-focused environment while providing exceptional care and service to prospective students, families, counselors, and campus visitors in a high-volume setting
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Proven attention to detail and sound judgment in handling sensitive information
- Ability to think critically to solve problems independently
