Position Summary:
The Department of Communication at Rollins College, an ACS approved program in a comprehensive liberal arts college, seeks a two-year visiting assistant professor to start August 2026 who can build upon existing curricular strengths of the department. Departmental faculty teach a range of general education courses and are involved in community engagement, social innovation, justice and equity, and environmental sustainability initiatives at the College. We are interested in candidates who have demonstrated ability to teach general courses in communication (e.g., Introduction to Communication, Intercultural Communication, Public Speaking, and Research Methods), as well as advanced level courses in the candidate's area of expertise. The successful candidate may also teach other 200-level courses in their specialty area, which may include COM 240 Intercultural Communication, COM 220 Interpersonal Communication, among others. The teaching load is eight courses annually with the possibility of summer teaching, if desired.
A Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related discipline is required. ABD candidates with an expected completion date by August 2026 will be considered. A record of outstanding teaching and a commitment to undergraduate education are required. We are interested in candidates who teach using innovative approaches, incorporate a global perspective, and emphasize access and diversity in the classroom.
The Department of Communication offers a major/minor in Communication Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and a major/minor in Communication Studies in the Hamilton Holt School, the evening program for non-traditional students. Minimum Qualifications and Education:
  • Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related discipline required.
  • ABD candidates with an expected completion date by August 2026 will be considered.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
