The University of Olivet, a liberal arts college in south central Michigan with a long-standing commitment to inclusion and diversity, seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting to work with students and to instruct in our programs in the area of management and economics.
Position Requirements: Earned doctorate in Business Administration, Entrepreneurial Leadership or related field is required; ABD will be considered. The candidate is required to have demonstrated successful teaching at the undergraduate level and have significant relevant field experience. A history of collaborative work with other faculty members and experience with program accreditation is preferred.
Responsibilities: Full-time faculty members teach 24 credit hours (or the equivalent) over two semesters. Successful candidates are expected to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in accounting/business management. Faculty responsibilities include advising and mentoring students, engaging in scholarly activities, and participating in other service activities in support of the college and its mission. Candidates must bring the ability to create a positive classroom experience and a commitment to mentoring undergraduates in a collaborative and diverse environment. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to develop relationships with industry executives in the wide variety of career fields including the development or nurturing of advisory committees, community leaders and other professionals.
Departmental Overview: The mission of the Business department, driven by the Olivet Plan, Olivet College Compact, and vision statement, is to educate the whole of the individual—mind, body, and spirit. Majors and minors prepare students for a wide variety of professional careers and include internships or field experiences as an integral part of the learning experience. The department serves one of the largest and most diverse student populations at the college, many of whom are also student-athletes.
