Visiting Assistant Professor of African and Africana Studies
Haverford College seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of African and Africana Studies.
Haverford College's African and Africana Studies program invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Visiting Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026, with classes starting on August 31, 2026. This appointment is for 1-year and is not renewable. The teaching load is a total of five courses for the year (e.g., 2-3). A successful candidate must be able to teach the core course for the program, Introduction to African and Africana Studies. We are particularly interested in candidates with a specialization in African History who can teach elective courses at the intermediate and upper-level. The introductory course is limited to 35. Intermediate courses are limited to 25 students and upper-level courses are generally capped at 15 students.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to engaging a wide range of students from different backgrounds and experiences and creating an inclusive classroom environment in a liberal arts context.
