Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology

Stetson University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology for the 2026-27 academic year. This is a full-time, 9-month position beginning in August 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Ph.D. in a biological science by August 2026 and evidence of strong teaching skills are required. Candidates with expertise in teaching introductory biology for science majors are particularly encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The new colleague will be expected to teach four courses per semester made up of introductory biology lectures and labs for science majors as well as potentially a science course for non-science majors and its associated lab. The successful candidate will have the option for one of these courses to be an approved student-centered immersive experience as part of the University's experiential, contemporary, and integrative learning initiative - Hatter Ready

THE DEPARTMENT:

The Biology Department consists of eleven tenured or tenure-track full-time faculty members, a lab coordinator, and a visiting assistant professor with areas of expertise in molecular biology, genetics, environmental physiology, plant ecology, neurobiology, cancer biology, microbiology, entomology, marine vertebrate biology, and aquatic and terrestrial ecology (Biology Department).

SALARY: Salary is competitive.

STARTING DATE: August 10, 2026
