The Carnegie Mellon University School of Music announces a full-time opening for a Visiting Faculty in Vocal Coaching & Collaborative Piano for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

POSITION & APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 9-month position at the rank of Special Faculty beginning in the Fall 2024 semester.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as vocal coach & accompanist for undergraduate and/or graduate voice majors, teach classes in area of expertise, serve as accompanist/coach/repetiteur for all School of Music opera productions, including attending evening rehearsals, coach roles for students for all opera productions, serve as accompanist for juries and auditions, and satisfy all other normal requirements of full-time faculty.

Qualifications

  • A thorough knowledge of traditional and modern opera, art song, oratorio, and concert vocal repertoire
  • Fluency in French, German and Italian
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in professional experience and/or achievement
  • Excellent collaborative skills and willingness to work across disciplines
  • A commitment to diversity
