Web and Digital Engagement Strategist _ Communications Specialist 3
Job Description
Minneapolis College is currently looking for a Web and Digital Engagement Strategist within the Marketing and Communication Division. This position provides expert consultation, planning, execution, and evaluation of Minneapolis College’s digital communications and media strategy to support institutional priorities including enrollment, reputation, and stakeholder engagement. The Communications Specialist develops, implements, and evaluates strategic content and communications across digital platforms (website, social media, email, paid media, etc.) and serves as the college’s lead web strategist and digital communications advisor.
The incumbent leads digital storytelling and content planning, manages external vendor relationships, and provides training and guidance to internal partners to ensure brand-aligned, accessible, and high-impact communication. The position ensures all efforts are data-informed and ADA-compliant, aligned with state, system, and campus policies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead digital communication strategy, produce and oversee web and digital content, and guide user experience to align with institutional priorities.
- Drive social media strategy and daily presence—building content, campaigns, and partnerships that grow engagement, strengthen reputation, and keep brand voice consistent across platforms.
- Leverage digital analytics to track engagement, uncover insights, and drive content strategy improvements and audience decisions.
- Provide off-hours digital communication support during urgent or crisis situations, ensuring timely website and social media updates; cover select college events and announcements outside standard hours by producing and publishing real-time content; and maintain schedule flexibility to guarantee continuity of communications during critical moments.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Salary Range:
$32.40 - $47.76 hourly/ $67,651-$99,723 annually
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience in digital marketing, content strategy, communications, or related fields. A master’s degree in digital marketing, or related field may substitute for 18 months of experience, a bachelor’s degree for 12 months and an associate’s degree for 6 months.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple platforms, using plain language and AP Style.
- Advanced knowledge of web strategy, UX/UI principles, and digital communication platforms, with proven expertise in website content strategy and user experience.
- Proficiency with digital tools, including content management systems (Drupal), social media management (Sprout Social, Hootsuite), email platforms (Salesforce), analytics (Google Analytics, Siteimprove), and multimedia design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Experience planning, executing, and measuring digital marketing and advertising campaigns across social media, search engines, and display networks.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional projects, advise stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with diverse populations.
- Google Analytics Certified or willingness to achieve certification within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Web Design, or a related field.
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or public sector communications.
- Experience with accessibility standards and universal design.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and audience segmentation for digital campaigns.
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools such as Microsoft CoPilot to support content creation, data analysis, task automation, and strategic insights in digital communications.
Other Requirements
Former and/or current employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College for consideration.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
40 hours per week, Mo. - Fr. 8:00am - 4:30pm, some after-hours and weekends if needed.
Telework (Yes/No)
May be eligible for partial telework per Minneapolis College's telework guidelines.
