26-83 Digital Media Center Technician (Information Technology Technician) - Information Services

The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate up-to-date experience in video production, studio operations, audio/video operation and maintenance, troubleshooting techniques, and multimedia support services. Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and interpret technical manuals and procedures; to provide assistance and support to staff, faculty, and students; to communicate effectively with all employees and students; to lift over 50 pounds.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing technical support for Digital Media Center operations and productions, including maintenance and operations of hardware and software including video camera operation, Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere, and Mac OS
- Resolving technical problems as needed on hardware and software
- Responsible for coordinating, recording, and editing of University sanctioned events, Digital Media Center projects, and other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting all equipment in the Digital Media Center's TV Studio (including video switchers, cameras, audio mixers, teleprompter, and lighting grids), Editing lab, and video streaming technology
- Providing technical support to WCU-TV students and staff
- Assisting WCU-TV students and staff in transmitting their content through University sanctioned channels (including campus and community channels)
- Maintaining technical knowledge to keep up with rapid changes in video/studio production technology, and both PC and MAC-based platforms
- Responsible for competency in multiple software and hardware platforms, video production technology, Media devices, PC's, and Macintosh
- Utilize digital signage systems to upload and curate digital signage content across campus
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Training: ? One year of experience as an IT Help Desk Technician (commonwealth title); or ? An associate degree in an IT field; or ? Two years of experience providing IT support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance; or ? One year of experience providing IT support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance and completion of a one-year apprenticeship in the IT technical support field; or ? An equivalent combination of experience and training
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the component parts of a PC and their associated functionality
- Knowledge of peripheral hardware devices such as printers, modems, and scanners, and their associated functionality
- Knowledge of the principles of network communications
- Knowledge of PC and peripheral hardware installation and configuration processes
- Knowledge of PC software installation and configuration processes
- Knowledge of desktop computer operating systems
- Knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office Suite software
- Knowledge of the use and interpretation of diagnostic utility programs for troubleshooting system (or IT) problems
- Knowledge of PC troubleshooting techniques in a network environment
- Ability to read and interpret IT manuals, procedures, and specifications
- Ability to communicate effectively orally
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Experience with all stages of video production
- Experience with professional video editing software
- Experience with the operation of video cameras, cinema cameras, DSLRs and mirrorless systems
- Experience with tv studio operations, including studio cameras, switchers, audio mixing, and lighting
- Experience utilizing digital signage systems to upload and curate digital signage content across campus
