The College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a dynamic and creative visual storyteller to elevate our institutional profile and engage new audiences through compelling photo and video content. This role directly supports brand awareness, recruitment, outreach, executive communications, and strategic initiatives by producing authentic stories that reflect our mission, values, and impact.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Photographer/Videographer will plan, capture, and produce multimedia assets—independently and in collaboration with writers, designers, and strategists—for use across web, social media, email marketing, digital advertising, news/media relations, and print collateral. The ideal candidate is a hands-on creative who understands brand strategy, content strategy, and narrative-based marketing, and who can manage projects end-to-end with technical excellence and meticulous attention to detail.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Content Creation & Production
- Capture high-quality photography and video for diverse platforms (news media, web, email, social, and print), including portraits, events, classrooms/clinical environments (as applicable), facilities, labs, and community settings.
- Plan, script, storyboard, and execute video projects tailored to platform-specific formats.
- Edit and produce videos using Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Media Encoder) to deliver polished, platform-appropriate content.
- Record and edit audio; perform sound design/mixing to enhance video quality and accessibility (voiceover, music, ambient sound).
- Prepare images and video clips for digital advertising, email campaigns, landing pages, and institutional websites.
- Support live event coverage, livestreams, and special projects; provide on-site, timely content capture.
Strategy, Collaboration & Brand Stewardship
- Collaborate with communications strategists, designers, writers, web staff, and leadership to align visuals with messaging, accessibility, and brand standards.
- Exercise initiative in identifying stories that advance college priorities (brand awareness, recruitment, outreach, community engagement).
- Maintain visual brand consistency and authenticity, reflecting the diversity, energy, and professionalism of our community.
Project Management & Workflow
- Manage the full production lifecycle: scoping, scouting, scheduling, shot lists, logistics, capture, editing, reviews, approvals, and delivery—on time and within budget.
- Maintain organized digital asset management (DAM) practices—file naming, metadata/keywords, releases, tagging, taxonomy—ensuring assets are easily searchable and retrievable.
- Track progress against deadlines and quality standards; adapt workflows based on stakeholder feedback.
Compliance, Accessibility & Safety
- Ensure all photography and video comply with consent, privacy, and safety requirements (e.g., HIPAA/FERPA/IRB as applicable, patient/student/media releases, location permits).
- Adhere to accessibility standards (e.g., captions, transcripts, alt text, color contrast) for inclusive digital content.
Maintain and care for equipment; uphold technical excellence in lighting, composition, sound, and color.
