The Department of Psychiatry for FY25 consists of 38 faculty (Clinical and Research), 26 other academics, 38 residents, 9 fellows and 52 volunteer faculty with an annual combined budget of clinical and research over $32M. Under general direction of the Academic Analyst 3, the Academic Analyst 1 is responsible for assisting in the administration of the academic personnel processes for faculty and non- faculty academic appointments.
Your Role on the Team
Learns to apply professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures in the completion of UC Academic HR assignments that are of limited scope and impact. Receives instructions on most work assignments, and regularly consults with more senior academic HR Analysts and / or manager in the course of completing assignments. Exercises some judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
- Detail oriented and ability to prioritize workload to ensure job completion with competing deadlines. Ability to work independently and following through on assignments and deadlines.
- Skills to analyze basic data sets and ability to generate reports.
- Working knowledge of computer software in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and use discretion when interacting with faculty, staff, and external parties.
- Awareness of academic titles and appointment types (e.g., faculty, researchers, postdocs). Familiarity with academic review processes such as appointments, merits, promotions, and leaves.
- Some knowledge of visa types and processes related to academic appointees is helpful.
- Positive attitude and approach that fosters collaboration and effective outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 1+ years of administrative experience.
Preferred:
- Familiarity or exposure to academic medical practice settings.
- Demonstrated interest or prior support experience related to general clinic operations.
- Some understanding of fellowship program structure and ACGME guidelines.
- Developing knowledge of University of California policies and procedural standards, with a willingness to learn and apply them in daily tasks.
