Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following full-time position: Accountant in the Coastal Educational Foundation. A key member of the Coastal Educational Foundation’s accounting team, this position is responsible for managing accounts receivable, assisting with financial reporting and monthly reconciliations, and facilitating gift acknowledgment communication with donors; performs reporting for university colleges and the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement.

Required Qualifications:
A high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending.
Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor degree and at least two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, or finance. Experience in governmental or non-for-profit accounting; experience with Blackbaud software.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Accounts Receivable Management: Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and serve as a reliable expert on contribution processing procedures. This includes processing gift contributions and ensuring that all donor gifts are properly coded, recorded, and captured in the donor software system. Analyze the underlying support for each transaction to confirm the appropriateness of donor record inclusion in financial records, ensuring compliance with audit and IRS regulations. Respond to all inquiries regarding the status of gift processing and collaborate with the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement to ensure accurate gift processing and reporting.
- Data Processing and Reporting: Develop and manage systems, reporting, and procedures for data processing to ensure uniformity, accurate recording, and retrieval of information. Serve as an expert on financial inquiries and provide timely and accurate information to campus stakeholders. Produce monthly reports for College Deans and other campus stakeholders, including but not limited to budget-to-actual reports, program and endowment cash flow statements, gift contributions, and scholarship reports.
- Financial and Accounting Support: Assist with the annual budget and management reports, monitor financial performance, and support current initiatives. Perform monthly and annual reconciliations of gifts and funds. Help prepare materials for the Board of Directors, including financial statements and year-end audits, and issue 1099 forms. Stay informed about relevant state and federal regulations.
- Donor Communication: Prepare acknowledgments, tax receipts, pledge reminders, and donor statements.
- Accounting Reports Management: Create and manage accounting and financial reports using current accounting software. Stay updated on software updates and new features, and periodically review current processes and reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
Accountant/Fiscal Analyst II (AD22/61122352/FTE-S01059P), full-time position with benefits. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
