Position Information
Reporting to the Acquisitions, Description, and Discovery (ADD) Director, is responsible for providing day-to-day operational support for the acquisitions, cataloging, and metadata creation functions of the department. Supervises eight staff who perform a variety of duties, including ordering, receiving, invoicing, claiming, copy cataloging, original cataloging, and metadata creation for digital objects. Helps to establish and modify procedures and workflows in consultation with an ADD librarian and other library staff and librarians, as required. The Acquisitions, Description, and Discovery department was recently formed due to the merger of the Acquisitions unit and the Metadata and Technical Services department.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Educational Requirements
Degree: Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Course work in library techniques or library science, cataloging and metadata creation standards. Preferred
Experience Requirements
6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred

Preferred Qualifications
- Reading knowledge of a major European language.
- Ability to establish authority records for local usage according to national standards

- Sets performance expectations, monitors performance, and recommends employee selection, corrective action, and dismissals. In collaboration with the Director, establishes goals for supervised staff and works continuously with them to promote achievement of established goals. Holds staff accountable for successful completion of assignments: 10%
- Recommends changes to unit policies, processes, and procedures. Identifies opportunities for workflow improvement and communicates them to the Director: 10%
- Performs other duties as assigned: 5%
