ADJUNCT - FY25 BASIC SKILLS: Reading & Writing, Non Credit

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the largest community college district in the United States. It comprises nine colleges serving more than 40 cities in Southern California.
POSITION
The LACCD is accepting applications for Noncredit Basic Skills Reading & Writing Instructor positions for the 2026 Academic School Year. This posting creates a pool of qualified applicants.
Successful candidates will collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and administrators, and demonstrate commitment to teaching a diverse student population.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT COVID 19 VACCINATION: All students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in English, literature, comparative literature, composition, linguistics, speech, creative writing or journalism; OR
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline and twelve semester units of coursework in teaching reading.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual Certificate - California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Possession of a California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential.
- Ability to design and contextualize Reading and Writing competencies through workforce aligned materials.
- Experience in Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, GED Testing, CASAS Testing, TABE Testing, and teaching specialized populations.
DUTIES
The adjunct instructor should teach a range of Noncredit Reading and Writing courses and promote engaging educational environments. The successful candidate will be culturally responsive.
REMOTE LEARNING
Faculty may conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas, hybrid, or hyflex modalities.
COMPENSATION
The salary schedule for adjunct noncredit instructors begins at $79.20 per standard hour.
